Dear beloved readers,
When I tell you I am not excited to write this one, not excited to watch Love is Blind anymore, it’s with pain in my heart, but it is the truth. I am so upset with all the directions this season went, and I know, I know, these are real people the events are going to turn out however way they turn out, there’s no predicting, but what a bad, awful cast!
I don’t really feel like dissecting each individual couple, or the any of the situations. And as much as I am excited about the weddings, I want to talk about the whole Jackie situation, because that caught me so off guard it actually messed me up.
So my first thoughts about Jackie, as I wrote on my notes during the first episode, were “The hottest of the show, if nothing works out, will love to see her in Perfect Match” (big LOL). Jackie was one of my favorites, she is gorgeous, funny, is one of the most expressive people I’ve ever seen in my life. And I know what went down during these episodes is like, less than a fraction of what Jackie is, has been, or will be, it doesn’t determinate her as person, doesn’t allow anyone to make any assumptions about her life, but god fucking damn it she was a dick to Marshall.
And I don’t even mean just the whole going behind his back, and kissing that guy while she was supposed to be wedding dress shopping– no, scratch that, while Marshall was trying on his wedding suit! That was low. But I feel like she gaslit the shit out of him, she turned out to be someone else than she showed herself to be in the pods, and while I was watching the show and realizing this it hit me.
This is the first season of Love is Blind that the women are the “evil” ones. This behavior exhibited by Jackie, Irina, Micah, that could be applied to literally so many of the other men who have walked through this show that I can’t even count them. Realizing this made me have to confront so many things, from why was I feeling so angry at them, and why did this feel like the worst season for me? Because some of the men in this very season are still just as shitty as they’ve ever been, and I am guessing we are going to have maybe one actual wedding out of this entire bunch. So what is it about the women being the villains that bothers me so much?
I think, in a way, it comes from having a hard time writing about women acting in such a way because from the men we all expect it, but from them it hurts. But then this falls into a bunch of other categories, like for one why do we even expect this from men and not from women?! It feels like that whole “women mature faster than men” thing that we all know is a blatant lie for us to force ourselves to mature fasters and for men to have no responsibilities. Anyways, if I explore any of these tropes we will be here for a few hours, so back to the show…
Who do you guys genuinely think will be getting married? I am fully prepared to bowl my eyes out watching Chelsea getting hurt next week, even if I LOVED Kwame’s sister and think she may have led him to the right direction, I think Chelsea deserves much better. Micah and Paul literally feel like oil and water. Jackie and Marshall, oh well…Bliss and Zack, I actually think that they will, but if so, Bliss is desperate because, wow…And then there was Tiff and Brett, perhaps a match made in heaven but, after the last few episodes, I am thinking Tiff isn’t ready for marriage…
I don’t know you guys, I feel like more than the weddings in itself I am so excited for the reunion just because I am certain it will be all sorts of ballistic. I will be watching and, hopefully, the extra layer of drama will get me more excited to write about it, because if I am being honest, as of now, I am either in the verge of freaking out, or dying of boredom, but hey, it does help me to calm my nerves after Yellowjackets every week, so I can’t complain. Stay safe, and out of trouble but, if you don’t – oh my god, tell me all about it.
